Recap: Colorado vs. St. Louis

Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Justin Morneau homered and drove in a season- high six runs as the Colorado Rockies outslugged the St. Louis Cardinals, 10-5, in the second tilt of a three-game set.

Drew Stubbs also homered and Ryan Wheeler had a pair of RBI for Colorado, which snapped a seven-game losing streak.

"He's been great for us," Rockies manager Walt Weiss said of Morneau. "Not just what he does for us but what kind of leader he is. He's having a heck of a season."

Rockies starter Jorge De La Rosa (7-6) grabbed the win after surrendering five runs -- four earned -- on nine hits over seven frames.

Nick Greenwood (1-1) took the loss after relieving starter Shelby Miller, who left after 2 2/3 innings with back tightness.

"Mid-back spasm," Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said of Miller's injury. "We seem pretty confident he'll be ready for his next start."

Greenwood allowed three runs on five hits in 1 2/3 frames in relief.

Jhonny Peralta hit his 11th home run of the season for the Cardinals, who had their three-game winning streak halted.

Matt Carpenter, Allen Craig and Tony Cruz each had an RBI in the setback.

Colorado came out swinging in the first, jumping out to a 3-0 lead after one.

Charlie Blackmon singled before Corey Dickerson and Troy Tulowitzki walked to load the bases. Morneau's single to right scored Blackmon and Wheeler poked a two-run single two batters later to push the margin to three.

St. Louis got one back in the third after Cruz reached second on a throwing error by De La Rosa to open the inning, Miller moved Cruz over to third on a bunt and Carpenter plated him with a sacrifice fly to right.

St. Louis took a brief lead in the fourth courtesy of a three-run inning that was answered with three from the Rockies in the home half.

Peralta clubbed a two-run homer to tie the game at 3-3 following a single from Matt Adams. Peter Bourjos and Mark Ellis then singled and Cruz knocked Bourjos in with a groundout to give the Cardinals a lead.

Dickerson singled and Tulowitzki walked to open the home half of the fourth and Morneau chased the two home with a blast to right to put Colorado in front.

Craig cut into the deficit with an RBI single in the fifth after Matt Holliday doubled to left.

Morneau added to the lead with a two-run single in the seventh that scored Blackmon and Dickerson.

Stubbs homered to begin the eighth and Blackmon added an RBI single later in the inning to account for the final margin.
