Recap: Miami vs. Philadelphia

Miami, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Chase Utley capped a two-run ninth inning with an RBI groundout, lifting the Philadelphia Phillies over the Miami Marlins, 5-4, in the finale of a three-game series.

After scoring a pair of runs in the eighth to grab a 4-3 lead, the Marlins sent Steve Cishek (4-4) to the mound in the ninth. Pinch-hitter Tony Gwynn Jr. walked and Ben Revere singled to put men on the corners with one out. Revere stole second before Jimmy Rollins hit an RBI fielder's choice. Utley drove in the winning run when he hit a sharp grounder to second.

"I can't have that happen," said Cishek of his second blown save. "It's tough."

Jonathan Papelbon stranded a runner on second in the bottom half to pick up his 19th save of the season. Jake Diekman (3-2) got the win despite giving up two runs on three hits in the eighth.

Kyle Kendrick got the start and allowed two runs on six hits over seven innings for the Phillies, who snapped a six-game skid.

Miami starter Brad Hand gave up three runs on seven hits over five-plus innings. He was activated from the 15-day disabled list prior to Thursday's game.

Hand helped his own cause in the bottom of the third. Marcell Ozuna doubled to right-center field, advanced to third on Donovan Solano's groundout and crossed the plate on a nice squeeze bunt by Hand.

The Marlins tacked on another run in the fifth. Ozuna led off with a single, moved to third on Solano's single and raced home on Christian Yelich's single to right.

Philadelphia responded with three runs in the sixth. Utley, Ryan Howard and Marlon Byrd hit three straight singles to load the bases with no outs. Chris Hatcher came in from the bullpen and Cesar Hernandez greeted him with an RBI fielder's choice. After Aaron Altherr struck out swinging, Cameron Rupp hit a two-run double off the wall in right to make it 3-2.

"It was a big hit for us and a big hit for me as well," Rupp said.

Miami took the lead back in the eighth. Ed Lucas and Giancarlo Stanton started things with consecutive singles. The runners moved up to second and third on a wild pitch. Lucas scored the tying run on a groundout by Casey McGehee. Pinch-hitter Jeff Baker followed with an RBI triple to right-center field, making it 4-3 Marlins. Jarrod Saltalamacchia grounded into a fielder's choice double play.

Game Notes

McGehee extended his hit streak to 10, reaching base for the 27th straight game ... The Phillies lead the season series by a 7-6 margin ... Ozuna went 3- for-4 with two runs scored ... Altherr made his first major-league start Thursday. He was optioned to Double-A Reading after the game.
