Recap: Arizona vs. Miami

Phoenix, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - Marcell Ozuna's two-run homer with two outs in the ninth inning lifted the Miami Marlins to a 2-1 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday, spoiling Vidal Nuno's National League debut.

Nuno, acquired by the Diamondbacks on Sunday in the trade that sent struggling right-hander Brandon McCarthy to the Yankees, threw seven scoreless innings and was in line for the win after scoring on Aaron Hill's single in the fifth.

But Arizona closer Addison Reed (1-5) issued a leadoff walk to Ed Lucas in the ninth and had two strikes on Ozuna when the Marlins center fielder belted a fastball off the camera well above center to make it 2-1.

"That was quite a finish," said Marlins manager Mike Redmond. "We'd been waiting for that big hit for a couple days."

The Marlins bounced back from a 9-1 loss in the three-game series opener on Monday to win for the third time in four games.

Nuno, who was 2-5 with a 5.42 ERA in 17 games for the Yankees, allowed just three hits and a walk and struck out seven. He threw 62 of his 91 pitches for strikes before he was replaced by Brad Ziegler, who pitched a perfect eighth.

"He moved the ball around, had great command and knew how to use his pitches," Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said of Nuno. "He did a hell of a job for us."

Brad Hand went 6 1/3 innings for Miami, allowing eight hits, two walks and an unearned run. Mike Dunn (7-4) struck out the one batter he faced in the eighth inning to strand a runner at third base and Steve Cishek threw a perfect ninth for his 20th save.

The Diamondbacks had a two-game winning streak snapped, losing for the sixth time in their last nine.

Ozuna hit his 15th homer of the season and was the only Marlin with two hits, also stroking a double off Nuno in the fourth inning, when he was stranded at second base.

Earlier, Giancarlo Stanton drew the only walk allowed by Nuno with two outs in the first inning. Jeff Baker doubled in the second and Christian Yelich was the only other Marlin to reach base against Nuno with a leadoff single in the sixth.

"In this ballpark, you can do some damage with one swing," Redmond said, "and we were able to do that tonight."

Game Notes

The Marlins were 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position and the Diamondbacks went 1-for-12. They left 11 men on base ... Miami made three errors, including one on third baseman Casey McGehee's bad throw which allowed Nuno to reach base leading off the fifth inning. He went to second on Ender Inciarte's bunt and scored on Hill's base hit.
