Recap: Seattle vs. Minnesota

Seattle, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - Brian Dozier had two doubles and scored a pair of runs as the Minnesota Twins defeated the Seattle Mariners, 8-1, in the third test of a four-game set.

Kyle Gibson (8-7) scattered seven hits and walked one over six scoreless innings, while Kendrys Morales drove in three runs for Minnesota, which has won two straight on the heels of a 1-5 stretch.

"We got some walks, strung together some at-bats and got some big hits when we needed to," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said.

Roenis Elias (7-8) allowed seven runs -- six earned -- on seven hits and three walks over 3 1/3 frames for the Mariners, who have dropped four of their last six tilts.

"It was a tough night for him ... just no command," Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon said of Elias.

The Twins jumped out to a healthy 8-0 cushion after plating a run in the first, four in the second and three more in the fourth.

Dozier led off the game with a double and came around to score on Morales' two-bagger with two outs.

Oswaldo Arcia walked and Kurt Suzuki singled to begin the second before Chris Colabello brought them both home when he ripped a double into the gap in right-center. Sam Fuld's base hit up the middle plated Colabello and shortly after Dozier doubled to put runners on second and third, Fuld was pushed across on Morales' bases-loaded sacrifice fly.

Fuld worked a leadoff walk, Eduardo Nunez hit a one-out single and Trevor Plouffe followed with a free pass off Stephen Pryor to load the bases in the fourth. Logan Morrison was unable to backhand Morales' grounder, allowing Dozier and Nunez to score on the error. Josh Willingham's sacrifice fly plated Plouffe and gave Minnesota its eight-run spread.

The Mariners finally got on the board in the seventh on Robinson Cano's RBI double.

Game Notes

The Twins were 3-for-12 with runners in scoring position, while Seattle finished 1-for-8 with RISP and left 12 men on base ... Seattle has tallied just three runs in its last four games and 1 for its last 30 with RISP.
