Recap: Colorado vs. Minnesota

Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Kevin Correia tossed six effective innings and the Minnesota Twins routed the Colorado Rockies, 9-3, in the middle test of a three-game set.

Correia (5-11) allowed a run on seven hits and a walk for the Twins, who have won four of their past five games on the heels of a 1-5 stretch.

"The ball came out of his hand good ... good performance," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said of Correia.

Eduardo Escobar smacked a solo homer among his two hits and scored a pair of runs, while Oswaldo Arcia had a pair of hits and scored twice in the triumph.

Charlie Blackmon went 5-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored, while Tyler Matzek (1-4) surrendered four runs on seven hits and a walk over six frames for Colorado, which had its three-game winning streak snapped.

"We had a hard time putting an inning together and getting a big hit," Rockies manager Walt Weiss said.

The Twins jumped out to a 4-0 lead after plating two runs in the first, one in the third and another in the fourth.

Brian Dozier led off the game with a double, Escobar reached on a fielder's choice when Matzek elected to try and throw out Dozier at third and Kendrys Morales ripped a double into right-center to plate Dozier and Escobar.

Escobar cracked a first-pitch, leadoff shot into the seats in left to open the third, while Correia's two-out RBI double in the fourth staked Minnesota to its four-run cushion.

The Rockies got on the board in the fifth.

D.J. LeMahieu singled to begin the frame, moved to second on Matzek's groundout and scored on Blackmon's base hit to right.

Chris Parmelee's two-run single and Dozier's sacrifice fly in the eighth gave the Twins a 7-1 advantage, while Kurt Suzuki's two-run single in the ninth made it 9-1.

Carlos Gonzalez's RBI double and Troy Tulowitzki's run-scoring groundout in the home ninth capped the scoring.

Game Notes
