Recap: Texas vs. Oakland

Arlington, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - John Jaso hit a go-ahead two-run homer and three other Oakland Athletics blasted solo shots in a 5-1 win over the Texas Rangers on Saturday.

Sonny Gray (12-3) won his fifth straight start, giving up a run on seven hits and four walks in 6 2/3 innings. He struck out five and improved to 6-0 in his last seven outings.

"It's night and day as a starting pitcher if you're able to get off to a good start," Gray said.

Jaso and Yoenis Cespedes hit back-to-back homers in a three-run sixth inning and Josh Donaldson and Josh Reddick also left the yard for the MLB-leading A's, who bounced back from a 4-1 loss in the series opener on Friday.

The Rangers fell to 6-28 in their last 34 games. They don't have consecutive wins since June 27-28 vs. Minnesota.

Texas starter Nick Tepesch (3-7) developed soreness in his left knee and was taken out after six innings in his first outing since giving up the winning run in the 14th inning of Tuesday's loss to the Yankees.

Tepesch cruised early but ran into trouble in the sixth and allowed three runs on four hits while remaining winless (0-3) in his last four starts.

He faced just one batter over the minimum through five innings before Eric Sogard hit a one-out double to spark the three-run A's rally in the sixth.

Jaso lined a two-out offspeed pitch over the right-field wall to give Oakland the lead and Cespedes went the other way with a fastball for his 17th homer of the season to make it 3-1.

"I was really good until that homer," Tepesch said.

Donaldson and Reddick homered off Nate Adcock in the seventh inning. Donaldson led off with his 22nd of the season, clearing the wall in right-center, and Reddick followed two batters later with a long drive to left for his fifth of the year.

Earlier, Jim Adduci hit a two-out single in the fourth inning, stole second base and scored on J.P. Arencibia's hit to give the Rangers a 1-0 lead.

Game Notes

Adcock, selected from Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday, was the 32nd pitcher used by the Rangers this season ... The Rangers went 1-for-5 with runners in scoring position.
