Recap: Minnesota vs. Cleveland

Minneapolis, MN (SportsNetwork.com) - Yan Gomes was 3-for-4 with a solo home run and three runs scored as the Cleveland Indians rallied for a 7-5 win over the Minnesota Twins to open a three-game series.

Tyler Holt and Zach Walters each drove in two runs for the Indians, who have won six of eight.

Trevor Bauer lasted just 4 2/3 innings in the start as he was tagged for five runs on four hits and two walks. Kyle Crockett (3-0) picked up the win for record two outs.

Oswaldo Arcia hit a three-run home run while Joe Mauer and Kennys Vargas each drove in a run for the Twins, who have lost their past three.

Kyle Gibson allowed five runs on eight hits over 5 1/3 innings, while Brian Duensing (3-3) was handed the loss after giving up two runs in relief.

"There were times I didn't feel as comfortable as I should have," said Gibson. I was battling now and then but I don't know, I guess I just didn't stay as aggressive as I should have."

Minnesota jumped out to a big lead in the first inning as Mauer hit an RBI ground-rule double and Vargas followed with an RBI single. Arcia then hit his 13th homer of the year for a 5-0 lead.

Gomes' solo shot in the second got the Indians on the board, and Walters made it a 5-3 game in the fourth thanks to his two-run single.

Michael Bourn led off the fifth with a double, moved to third on a sac bunt and later scored on a wild pitch to make it a one-run game.

The Indians completed the comeback and went ahead in the sixth as Holt hit a two-run double and scored when Bourn followed with an RBI single for a 7-5 game.

"There was a lot of big hits in this game," said Cleveland manager Terry Francona. "I never like to see us fall behind that early, but the guys really responded."

The Twins, meanwhile, put two men on base in the fifth but were unable to get a run across, then stranded two more in the seventh.

Nick Hagadone, who got the final out of the seventh, got the first two outs of the eighth before Bryan Shaw recorded the final out of the inning.

Cody Allen tossed a scoreless ninth to pick up his 16th save of the season.
