Recap: Milwaukee vs. Toronto

Milwaukee, WI (SportsNetwork.com) - Jose Bautista hit a three-run home run and Colby Rasmus added a two-run blast as the Toronto Blue Jays topped the Milwaukee Brewers, 9-5, in the finale of a two-game interleague set.

Jose Reyes added three hits, scored twice and drove in one for the Blue Jays, while Melky Cabrera posted a pair of hits, an RBI and crossed home twice. Edwin Encarnacion and Munenori Kawasaki also drove in a run each as Toronto earned a split.

R.A. Dickey (10-12) gave up five runs on eight hits in 5 2/3 innings, but held on long enough for the win.

Carlos Gomez slugged a two-run shot and scored twice for the Brewers, whose five-game win streak came to a halt. Ryan Braun, Mark Reynolds and Jean Segura added an RBI apiece in defeat.

Jimmy Nelson (2-4) also worked 5 2/3 frames, but allowed nine runs and four hits in the loss.

"I need to do a better job the second and third time through (the order)," said Nelson. "They put some good swings on some fastballs."

The Jays forged ahead by a 7-3 count in the sixth. Josh Thole bounced a ball over the wall in right then scored as Kawasaki followed with a double. Nelson exited for Zach Duke after striking out Dickey, but gave up an RBI single from Reyes and a hit to Cabrera before leaving. Brandon Kintzler allowed Cabrera to swipe second ahead of Bautista's three-run blast to left-center.

"I feel like we've been overdue for that," Dickey said of the sixth. "That's kind of our calling card, being able to put up big innings, and we haven't had one in a while."

Gomez got two of those back in the home half with his 21st of the season, over the wall in left to bring home Segura, but the Brewers couldn't cut into their deficit despite having two on with one out in the bottom of the eighth.

Rasmus gave his club some breathing room with a two-run shot in the ninth which increased Toronto's lead to 9-5. Encarnacion was also aboard, thanks to his two-out single.

Casey Janssen retired Braun, Aramis Ramirez and Parra in order to lock down the win.

The Brewers picked up a run in the second, as Parra led off with a double, then scored when Segura doubled with two down.

It was 2-0 for the hosts in the fourth as Parra tripled with one out and scored on a two-out double from Reynolds.

Toronto countered with two in the fifth on Cabrera's RBI ground-rule double and a two-out RBI hit from Encarnacion, but Milwaukee struck in the home half. Gomez was plunked, Jonathan Lucroy singled, and the former crossed home when Jays third baseman Danny Valencia threw wild to second on a fielder's choice.
