Recap: Milwaukee vs. Cincinnati

Milwaukee, WI (SportsNetwork.com) - Lyle Overbay's RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted the Milwaukee Brewers to a 3-2 win over the Cincinnati Reds on Friday.

Ryan Braun and Jonathan Lucroy both had two hits with a walk and an RBI for Milwaukee, which has won three straight after dropping 16 of 19.

The Brewers remained 1 1/2 games out of the NL's second wild-card spot.

Lucroy doubled to the gap in left-center field to begin the ninth and took third base on a groundout. After Jumbo Diaz (0-1) intentionally walked the next two batters, Overbay jumped on a first-pitch fastball and drove it to left field to score pinch-runner Logan Schafer.

"He's done a really good job pinch-hitting, he's done a really good job hitting with people on base," Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said of Overbay. "You feel good with him up there."

Milwaukee closer Francisco Rodriguez (5-5) got the win after striking out pinch-hitter Jack Hannahan looking with runners on second and third for the final out in the top of the ninth. Hannahan was ejected by home plate umpire Dan Iassogna.

The Brewers got a solid outing from Kyle Lohse. After surrendering a solo home run to Kristopher Negron, the second batter of the game, Lohse gave up only four more hits while working into the seventh inning.

Daniel Corcino made his first major league start after Cincinnati's scheduled starter Mat Latos was scratched because of a bone bruise in his right elbow.

Corcino said he wasn't nervous for the opportunity.

"When I got to the mound I forgot about everything," Corcino said. "You have to do your job."

The 24-year-old righty was perfect the first time through the order, but allowed two runs in the fourth.

Carlos Gomez reached second on a wild pitch and a throwing error by catcher Brayan Pena after striking out. Lucroy knocked in Gomez with a base hit and slid in ahead of the tag after Braun singled to make it 2-1.

The hits by Lucroy and Braun were the only ones given up by Corcino, who tossed six full frames.

Cincinnati tied it in the seventh on Pena's sacrifice fly.

Game Notes

Lohse struck out six ... The Reds were 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position.
