Recap: LA Angels vs. Houston

Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Mike Trout homered twice to lead the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim to a 5-2 victory over the Houston Astros on Saturday.

Albert Pujols, Howie Kendrick and Erick Aybar each drove in a run and Trout finished 3-for-3 with a walk and three runs scored for the Angels, who won their 10th straight game for the first time since Aug. 29-Sept. 8, 2002.

"It's fun playing in September when it means something," said Trout. "I'm just having fun."

Jered Weaver (17-8) tossed a solid game, allowing just one run on four hits and a walk to go with a season-high 12 strikeouts over seven innings of work. Weaver leads American League pitchers with 17 wins.

"Weaver was tough. He changed speeds on us," Astros interim manager Tom Lawless said. "You tip your cap to him."

Jose Altuve hit an RBI double and Robbie Grossman drove in a run for Houston, which has dropped the first two games of this three-game set.

Scott Feldman (8-11) was tagged with the loss after giving up two runs on eight hits across six frames.

The Angels wasted no time getting on the board. Trout crushed his 33rd home run of the season over the right-field wall for an early 1-0 advantage.

Grossman's liner with two outs in the third deflected off the glove of a diving Trout in right field and drove in Marwin Gonzalez for a 1-1 game.

Trout made up for it in the home half by blasting a 1-1 curveball to center as the Angels regained the lead.

In the fifth, Trout hit a one-out double and moved to third on Pujols' groundout, but was left stranded after Kendrick grounded out to first.

Collin Cowgill singled, Kole Calhoun walked and Trout was intentionally walked to load the bases with one out in the seventh. Jose Veras took the mound and gave up a walk to Pujols to usher in a run. Kendrick hit an RBI single to left and Trout scored on Aybar's groundout for a 5-1 lead.

Houston added a run in the eighth. Dexter Fowler hit a leadoff double off Kevin Jepsen, moved to third on Grossman's fly out and scored on Altuve's double to left.

Game Notes

Astros designated hitter Chris Carter extended his hitting streak to 11 games ... The Angels' club record of 11 straight wins was set in 1964 ... The Angels lead the season series, 12-6.
