Recap: Washington vs. Detroit

Viera, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Jose Lobaton went 2-for-2 with three RBI to lead the Washington Nationals to an 8-1 win over the Detroit Tigers.

Ian Desmond had a two-run homer and Denard Span, Ryan Zimmerman and Anthony Rendon each drove in a run for Washington.

Nationals starter Stephen Strasburg threw five scoreless frames, striking out five and improving his ERA to 0.64 this spring.

Victor Martinez drove in the lone run for the Tigers, who only managed five hits. Max Scherzer was touched for five runs in 5 2/3 innings while picking up eight strikeouts.
