Jupiter, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Adam Wainwright tossed eight scoreless innings in St. Louis' 2-0 Grapefruit League win over Washington.

Wainwright held the Nationals to three hits, all singles, and struck out seven while issuing no walks.

Yadier Molina put the Cardinals on the board in the first inning with an RBI groundout, and Allen Craig added a sacrifice fly in the third.

Washington starter Gio Gonzalez gave up both runs, one of which was earned, on four hits and walked three in 4 2/3 innings.
