Recap: Texas vs. Houston

San Antonio, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - George Springer's run-scoring single in the top of the ninth proved to be the difference, as the Houston Astros held on for a 6-5 win over the Texas Rangers on Friday in spring training action from the Alamodome.

Springer scored Alex Presley with a single in the ninth to make it 6-3 Houston, but Michael Choice followed Chris Snyder's leadoff single in the home half with a blast to right-center, bringing Texas within 6-5.

However, Jason Stoffel bounced back to retire the next three hitters in order, as Houston escaped with the victory.

Chris Carter clubbed a three-run homer during a four-run first frame for the Astros, who saw starter Jerome Williams allow one run on three hits over three innings.

Adrian Beltre and Kevin Kouzmanoff each finished 2-for-2 with a solo homer in the setback. Texas starter Matt Harrison surrendered four runs on five hits and two walks over three frames.
