Recap: Kansas City vs. Chicago Cubs

Surprise, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - Brett Jackson hit a three-run home run and drove in five as the Chicago Cubs took a 6-5 victory over the Kansas City Royals in spring training action on Saturday.

Marco Hernandez drove in the other run for the Cubs, who saw starter Jeff Samardzija give up four runs on seven hits with three walks over 3 2/3 innings.

Johnny Giavotella hit a two-run home run and drove in three, while Jarrod Dyson and Brian Fletcher each hit a solo home run for the Royals. James Shields pitched six innings and gave up just one hit while striking out 10 to lower is earned run average to just 0.61 in the preseason.
