Mike Zunino hit a solo home run and drove in two, while Brad Miller went 3- for-4 with two runs scored for the Mariners. Felix Hernandez tossed five innings and gave up three runs on five hits, striking out six.

Alex Gordon hit a solo home run and drove in three runs for the Royals. Bruce Chen was tagged for nine runs -- eight earned -- on 11 hits in just four innings of work.
