Recap: San Diego vs. Kansas City

Peoria, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - Brian Bocock and Whit Merrifield each had an RBI as part of a three-run 10th inning that lifted the Kansas City Royals to a 9-6 win over the San Diego Padres.

With the score tied at 3-3 and two on, Matt Field ripped a single that bounced off pitcher Blaine Boyer and Alberto Gonzalez's wild throw allowed Yem Prades to score the go-ahead run. Bocock grounded out to third, but it allowed Paredes to score and Merrifield laced a base hit left that plated Fields to cap the inning.

Jason Donald added a two-run homer and Carlos Peguero stroked a solo shot for the Royals, who saw starter Jason Vargas surrender three runs on four hits over five innings.

Kyle Blanks hit a two-run homer and Yonder Alonso added a solo blast for the Padres. Ian Kennedy allowed four runs on eight hits over 4 2/3 innings.
