Flushing, NY (Sports Network) - Matt Davidson belted a two-run homer in the fourth inning to lift the United States to a 4-2 win over the World team in the 2013 Futures Game.

Davidson, an Arizona Diamondbacks prospect playing at Triple-A Reno, was named the game's MVP after his homer erased a 2-1 deficit and helped the United States win the annual contest between minor league stars for a fourth straight time.

Last year's game was dominated by offense in a 17-5 American rout. Pitching, though, was at the forefront this year.

The U.S. pitchers held the World team to a mere three hits, two coming from Boston prospect Xander Bogaerts, who also scored a run. Arismendy Alcantara, a shortstop playing for the Cubs' Double-A affiliate in Tennessee, homered for the other World team run.

Philadelphia prospect Jesse Biddle was credited with the win for the U.S., surrendering one walk with a strikeout in 1 1/3 innings. A.J. Cole, a Nationals prospect, picked up the save.

The World team did not record a hit over the final 5 1/3 innings.

Garin Cecchini, a Boston prospect at Double-A Portland, drove in the final U.S. run with a double in the eighth.

The U.S. has won nine of the 15 games in the series.
