Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Brian Wilson, who spent his first six-plus seasons in San Francisco, is going to the Giants' heated NL West rival.

Wilson, who hasn't pitched in a game in over a year, signed a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday.

The 31-year-old right-hander made only two regular-season appearances in 2012 before undergoing season-ending Tommy John surgery on April 19.

The three-time All-Star has racked up 171 saves to go with a 20-20 record and a 3.21 ERA in 315 contests. He became a free agent when the Giants didn't tender him a contract offer following the 2012 season.

"Thank you to the fans in San Francisco. It was an honor to pitch in front of you for all those years," Wilson said via Twitter. "Even though I'll be wearing a different color your impact in my life will never be forgotten."

Wilson, known for his extravagant beard, led the National League with 48 saves and posted a 1.81 ERA in 2010. He had saves in all three playoff series, including the World Series when the Giants beat the Texas Rangers in five games.
