Flushing, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The New York Mets have placed right-handed pitcher Vic Black on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to Aug. 24 due to a herniated disk in his neck.

Black has pitched 32 2/3 innings out of the bullpen for New York this season, compiling a 2-3 record with a 2.20 ERA over 39 games.

In a corresponding move, the Mets activated right-handed pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka from the DL. Matsuzaka, who was sidelined with a sore right elbow, is 3-3 with a 3.87 ERA in 28 games for the Mets this season, including nine starts.
