Flushing, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The New York Mets placed rookie pitcher Jacob deGrom on the 15-day disabled list Monday due to right rotator cuff tendinitis.

DeGrom is 6-5 with a 2.87 ERA in 16 starts this season. The right-hander has struck out 94 and walked 33 in 100 1/3 innings.

The Mets recalled righty Rafael Montero from Triple-A Las Vegas to take the open roster spot. He will start Tuesday against the Washington Nationals at Citi Field.

Montero is 0-2 with a 5.40 ERA over his first four major-league starts.
