Nationals place McLouth on DL

Washington, DC ( - The Washington Nationals placed outfielder Nate McLouth on the 15-day disabled list Monday due to right shoulder inflammation.

The move is retroactive to Aug. 2.

McLouth is batting just .173 with one home run and seven RBI this season with the Nationals.

Washington recalled outfielder Steven Souza Jr. from Triple-A Syracuse to replace McLouth on the roster.

Souza leads the International League with a .354 average, adding 18 homers and 24 stolen bases.
