Pirates agree to terms with OF Pie on minor league deal

Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - The Pittsburgh Pirates agreed to terms with outfielder Felix Pie on a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training Wednesday.

Pie has appeared in 398 career games in the majors with the Chicago Cubs and Baltimore Orioles from 2007-11, batting .249 with 44 doubles, 17 home runs and 97 RBI.

He started last season with the Camden Riversharks of the independent Atlantic League before signing with the Atlanta Braves on May 11.

The 27-year-old spent the remainder of the season with Triple-A Gwinnett, where he hit .285 with 26 doubles, six homers and 51 runs batted in.

Pittsburgh also agreed to minor league contracts with pitchers Brooks Brown, Erik Cordier, David Bromberg and Luis Sanz, and infielder Alex Valdez.

Brown and Cordier also received invites to spring training.
