St. Petersburg, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Tampa Bay Rays acquired infielder Logan Forsythe, pitcher Brad Boxberger, and three minor leaguers from the San Diego Padres for pitchers Alex Torres and Jesse Hahn on Wednesday.

Forsythe played in 75 games for the Padres last season, where he hit .214 with six home runs. The 27-year-old set career highs in batting average (.273), hits (86), and RBI (26) during the 2012 campaign.

He adds defensive depth for the Rays, having started 31 games at second base, nine at shortstop, eight at third base, seven in left field, and two in right field last season.

Tampa Bay also gained Boxberger, who made 18 relief appearances last season where he totaled an ERA of 2.86 with 24 strikeouts in five stints with the Padres.

The Padres received Torres, a left-handed reliever, who went 4-2 with a 1.71 ERA in 39 appearances last season.

Hahn was also shipped to San Diego. The right-hander started 19 games for Single-A Charlotte, where he went 2-1 with a 2.15 ERA.

The Rays also received minor-league pitchers Matt Andriese, Matt Lollis, and infielder Maxx Tissenbaum in the deal.
