Boston, MA ( - The Boston Red Sox agreed to terms with first baseman/outfielder Mike Carp, infielder Jonathan Herrera and pitcher Junichi Tazawa on one-year contracts, thus avoiding salary arbitration.

Carp hit .296 with 18 doubles, nine home runs, 43 RBI and 22 walks in a career-high 86 games in 2013, his first campaign with the Red Sox.

Herrera is entering his first season with the Red Sox after being acquired from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for pitcher Franklin Morales and minor league pitcher Chris Martin in December.

The 29-year-old Herrera hit .292 with seven doubles, two triples, one home run and 16 RBI in 81 games with Colorado in 2013.

Tazawa went 5-4 with a 3.16 ERA and a team-high 25 holds in 71 games with the Red Sox last season.
