Miami, FL (Sports Network) - The Miami Marlins and Toronto Blue Jays appear on the verge of orchestrating a mega-trade that would send shortstop Jose Reyes and pitchers Josh Johnson and Mark Buehrle to Toronto, according to various reports.

FoxSports.com reported that the Marlins would obtain shortstop Yunel Escobar, infielder Adeiny Hechavarria, pitcher Henderson Alvarez and a pair of highly regarded prospects -- outfielder Jake Marisnick and pitcher Justin Nicolino -- with Toronto also receiving utilityman Emilio Bonifacio and catcher John Buck in the deal.

The Marlins are also believed to be receiving a catcher on the major league roster in the swap, with either J.P. Arencibia, Jeff Mathis or Bobby Wilson headed to Miami.

Neither team has announced any move, with Major League Baseball yet to receive all of the particulars or officially approve the trade.

If it does go through, it would signify a drastic salary reduction for Miami one year after the team increased its payroll to nearly $100 million in the inaugural season of the newly constructed Marlins Park.
