Texas declines 2014 option on Berkman

Arlington, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - The Texas Rangers have declined a 2014 club option on designated hitter/first baseman Lance Berkman, making the veteran a free agent.

Berkman, 37, hit just .242 with six home runs and 34 RBI over 73 games in his only season with the club.

The slugger has 366 career home runs and 1,234 RBI in 1,879 games with the Astros, Yankees, Cardinals and Rangers.
