Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) - Elliott Sadler confirmed on his Twitter account on Monday that he will drive for Joe Gibbs Racing in the Nationwide Series in 2013.

Sadler tweeted, "Yep As of 145pm sat., I became the newest driver at JGR! Awesome!!"

Sadler will team with Brian Vickers at JGR in Nationwide next year. Earlier this month, JGR announced that Vickers will drive for the team, with Dollar General as his primary sponsor, for the upcoming season. Sadler's car number and primary sponsor have yet to be revealed.

"Can't thank Coach (Joe Gibbs, owner) and JD (Gibbs, team president) enough for this great opportunity...my family and I are ecstatic," Sadler posted on Twitter as well.

Sadler has finished second to champion Ricky Stenhouse Jr. in the Nationwide point standings the past two seasons. Sadler, who drove the No. 2 Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing this year, finished ninth in last Saturday's season-finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway. He ended the season 23 points behind Stenhouse.

Sadler had previously announced that he was leaving RCR at season's end. It had been widely speculated that he would join JGR.
