Kansas City, MO (Sports Network) - Martell Webster led a strong bench surge with 23 points, as Washington rallied late to clip Miami, 101-94, in preseason action.

Chris Singleton also rose to the occasion off the bench with 17 points and seven rebounds, while Jannero Pargo joined the party with 11 points as a reserve. A.J. Price added 11 points in a starting role and Jan Vesely put together four points and 11 boards for the Wizards, who held a 47-39 edge on the glass and scored 24 points in transition.

Dwyane Wade scored 23 points to go along with seven boards and LeBron James donated 13 points with six assists and five rebounds for Miami. New addition Ray Allen also tallied 13 points in the loss.

Miami had a grip on the contest early, scoring 12 of the game's first 13 points capped by a long Chris Bosh jumper. Yet, Washington settled in and worked its way back within 32-26 at the end of the period.

The Heat kept the Wizards at bay before extending their advantage late in the half, turning a six-point edge into a 61-47 lead on the heels of a 12-4 scoring stretch.

Washington got as close as three points in the third and finally took the lead at 85-84 on the first of two free throws by Webster. The Wizards claimed the edge for good moments later on Brian Cook's layup for an 89-88 lead.
