Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - Despite suffering a setback in his recovery from knee surgery, Minnesota Timberwolves guard Brandon Roy said he intends to return to the court once again.

"Last week while practicing, I suffered a setback in my recovery. I've felt better since the recent surgery, but I am not all the way better," Roy said in a statement on Saturday.

"I have decided to explore additional treatment options and an extensive rehabilitation plan. My goal has been, and continues to be, to return to the basketball court as healthy as possible in order to help our team."

Roy, who retired temporarily following the 2010-11 season, underwent his seventh surgery to treat a chronic knee pain that has plagued him throughout his five-year career on Nov. 19.

The three-time All-Star was reportedly mulling retirement following the setback, but has made it clear he plans to attempt to return to basketball. Roy has played in just five games this season.

Over 326 career games with the Portland and Minnesota, Roy has averaged 18.8 points and 4.7 assists.
