New York, NY (Sports Network) - The New York Knicks announced Wednesday that forward Rasheed Wallace will require surgery to repair a fractured left foot and is expected to miss an additional eight weeks.

The procedure will effectively keep Wallace, who hasn't played since Dec. 13, sidelined for the remainder of the regular season.

Wallace came out of a two-year retirement to join the Knicks this season. In 20 games, he averaged 7.2 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.

The 38-year-old holds career averages of 14.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.3 blocks in 1,108 games (956 starts) over 15 seasons with Washington, Portland, Atlanta, Detroit, Boston and New York.

A four-time NBA All-Star, Wallace won an NBA Championship with Detroit in 2004, alongside then-assistant coach Mike Woodson.
