Washington, DC (Sports Network) - Washington Wizards guard John Wall has cleared one hurdle in recovering from a stress injury to his left patella suffered in the offseason.

"John's examination today showed improvement in his stress injury that will allow him to begin ramping up his activity level," said Dr. David Altcheck in a Friday statement. "There is still some irritation in the knee which we have treated over his last several visits with a series of three lubricating Synvisc injections, the last of which was given today. He will continue to be evaluated on an ongoing basis."

When he was diagnosed back in late September, Wall was expected to be sidelined approximately eight weeks. He has missed all of Washington's 19 games thus far, during which the Wizards sport the NBA's worst record at 3-16.

Wall, the top overall pick in the 2010 draft out of Kentucky, posted averages of 16.3 points, 8.0 assists and 4.5 rebounds while playing in all 66 games last season.
