Recap: LA Clippers vs. Cleveland

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Rookie Dion Waiters made seven 3-pointers en route to 28 points, as the Cleveland Cavaliers took down the Los Angeles Clippers, 108-101.

Kyrie Irving added 24 points and 10 assists for the Cavaliers, who have won 11 of the past 12 meetings with the Clippers. Anderson Varejao had 15 points and 15 rebounds.

"We played with intensity," Irving said. "We just wanted to push it up the court and we were executing. We gave them different looks tonight."

Blake Griffin ended with 20 points and six boards for the Clippers, who have lost two in a row. Jamal Crawford donated 19 points and Chris Paul added 17 points and nine assists.

Trailing by nine, 93-84, Los Angeles went on a 10-1 run to tie the game. Paul and Crawford bookended the flurry with a pair of 3-pointers to make it 94-94 with 4 1/2 minutes to play.

Waiters responded with a pair of 3-pointers around a Griffin jumper to give the Cavaliers the lead again. Varejao added a jumper to make it 102-96 with 2:55 remaining.

Los Angeles kept it close and got within three, 104-101, on Griffin's slam with 40.5 seconds to go.

Irving made a 3-pointer at the other end to essentially seal the victory for the Cavaliers, who went 14-of-29 from beyond the arc.

"We had too many turnovers and their offensive rebounds controlled the tempo of the game," Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro said. "It seemed like we were rushing. We tried to go too fast."

Down by eight, 21-13, with five minutes left in the first stanza, Irving made back-to-back 3-pointers to make it a two-point contest. Cleveland took a 31-28 edge into the second.

The Cavaliers led by as many as seven in the second frame and took a 57-50 lead into the locker room.

Cleveland led throughout the third quarter and took an 84-78 margin into the fourth.
