Recap: Toronto vs. Philadelphia

Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Thaddeus Young netted 16 points and pulled down eight rebounds on Saturday as the Philadelphia 76ers knocked off the Toronto Raptors, 93-83, at Air Canada Centre.

Nick Young put home 16 points off the bench and Jrue Holiday donated 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting to go with five assists for the Sixers, who have won three straight. Spencer Hawes added 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Dorell Wright had 15 points and six boards in the triumph.

"If we were going to win this game, our bench was going to have to come up big, because we were tired," Sixers coach Doug Collins said of playing the second of back-to-back road games.

Andrea Bargnani laced a game-high 23 points and grabbed five rebounds, while DeMar DeRozan ended his night with 19 points and six rebounds for the Raptors, who fell to 1-5 on the season.

Toronto jumped out to a quick 7-2 advantage before the Sixers answered with five straight to tie the game.

Philadelphia shot just 7-of-19 from the floor and watched the Raptors race out to a 22-12 lead with 3:13 to play in the quarter.

Royal Ivey capped the first 12 minutes with a pair of free throws for the Sixers, who trailed 26-20 heading into the second frame.

After struggling through the first quarter, Philadelphia took control in the second 12 minutes, on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor.

Young led the way offensively with 11 points off the bench as the Sixers drained 13-of-18 from the floor. Defensively, they held Toronto to just seven points on 2-of-20 shooting to take a comfortable 52-33 margin into the locker room.

"We looked like we fixed our first quarter problem," Raptors coach Dwane Casey said. "Our starters gave us excellent energy. But, our reserves came in and things started to snowball from there."

The Sixers led by double digits for the majority of the third quarter, but the Raptors made a late push.

Trailing, 67-55, with 3:23 left, the Raptors scored seven of the final nine points, cutting the deficit to 69-62 after three quarters.

Philadelphia essentially put the game away in the fourth quarter with a 17-7 run to begin the frame which pushed the advantage back to 17 with 3:19 left.

Jose Calderon drained a 3-pointer in the final minute to cut the deficit to nine, but Philadelphia held on for the victory.
