Recap: Philadelphia vs. Utah

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Jrue Holiday poured in a game-high 26 points to help the Philadelphia 76ers down the Utah Jazz, 99-93, Friday at Wells Fargo Center.

Holiday also handed out seven assists, while Jason Richardson buried five 3- pointers en route to 20 points and Thaddeus Young chipped in 14 points for the Sixers, who snapped a two-game skid.

Paul Millsap paced the Jazz with 22 points and seven rebounds and DeMarre Carroll donated a career-high 17 points in the setback, Utah's second in a row.

"We showed some fight," Jazz coach Tyrone Corbin said. "This team has a lot of pride. They just made some shots."

Utah trailed 71-64 after three frames, but the team opened the fourth with a 7-0 sprint to knot the game less than two minutes in.

The Sixers responded with six straight points to spark a 13-2 run, giving the home team an 84-73 lead with 6:40 remaining in the contest.

The Jazz made one final run, as a Mo Williams triple capped a 9-2 swing to trim Utah's deficit to 86-82 with 3 1/3 minutes left, but the Sixers scored the next six points and made enough free throws down the stretch to hang on for the victory.

"That was a great win for us," Sixers coach Doug Collins said. "We finished well."

Richardson drained his second 3-pointer just past the seven minute mark of the first quarter, sparking a 7-0 surge to give the home team a 24-13 edge with 4:33 left in the first.

Philadelphia carried a 30-20 lead into the second, but the Jazz scored the first nine points of the frame as part of a 15-2 run to take a 35-32 edge with 7:51 left until halftime.

Nick Young buried a corner 3-pointer later in the stanza to knot the game at 35-35, and after a jumper from Carroll gave Utah a brief lead, Philadelphia closed the quarter on a 17-6 swing to take a 52-43 advantage into the locker room.

Utah opened the second half on an 8-2 spurt, but Richardson and Evan Turner knocked down back-to-back triples to start a 12-2 Philadelphia run that gave the home team a 66-53 lead with four minutes left in the third.

A Carroll putback layup late in the quarter brought the Jazz within 71-64 heading into the fourth.

Game Notes

Philadelphia center Andrew Bynum met with reporters before the game and said there is now swelling and cartilage damage in his left knee from overcompensating for his surgically repaired right knee. He is still expected to be sidelined until at least early January ... Turner finished with 11 points.
