Recap: Utah vs. San Antonio

Salt Lake City, UT (Sports Network) - Mo Williams waited and waited before rising up and nailing a rainbow 3-pointer as time expired.

Williams had just eight points, but his clutch shot gave the Utah Jazz a 99-96 win over the San Antonio Spurs.

"I didn't want to leave them any time," Williams said of the last shot. "Just needed to get a little space."

With the game tied, Williams' trey with nine seconds to go was off the mark, but Paul Millsap, who had 24 points and 12 rebounds, snatched the offensive board and Utah called timeout with 6.7 ticks left.

Williams then got the ensuing inbounds and let the clock wind down before dribbling between his legs and letting his shot go over the outstretched arms of Danny Green.

The shot hit nothing but net.

"What do you think a guy is going to do with 2 seconds left on the clock," Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich said of Green's defense on the last shot. "You make him drive. You don't step back on Mo Williams."

Al Jefferson netted 19 points for Utah, which has won four straight contests.

Tim Duncan had 22 points and 21 boards, while Tony Parker added 22 points and seven assists for the Spurs, who had their six-game winning streak snapped.

"I hate to have Tim have a game like that and lose at the end," Popovich said.

Boris Diaw's triple with 4:09 left in the fourth gave the Spurs a 93-85 advantage, but Utah countered with a 9-1 spurt, which was capped on Jefferson's fast break dunk to tie the score at 94-94.

Green then hit a jumper at the other end, but a Millsap jumper with 40 seconds to play knotted the contest at 96-96. Parker's jumper on San Antonio's ensuing trip down the floor was off the mark prior to Utah's final possession.

San Antonio led, 28-22, after a quarter of play, but the hosts outscored the Spurs, 31-16 in the second and took a 53-44 edge into the break.

The Spurs tallied the final five points of the third, which forged a 71-71 tie heading into the final frame.

Game Notes

The Jazz held a 29-12 advantage in fast break points and 48-36 margin in the paint ... Utah shot 48.8 percent (41-of-84) from the floor, while San Antonio finished 42.5 percent (37-of-87) from the field.
