Recap: Golden State vs. Minnesota

Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry combined for 44 points to lead the Golden State Warriors past the Minnesota Timberwolves, 96-85, on Saturday.

Thompson had 24 points and Curry poured in 20 to go along with six assists for the Warriors, winners in three of their last four.

David Lee finished with 17 points, eight rebounds and four assists and Harrison Barnes notched a double-double with 10 points and 11 boards in the win.

"To hold this team to 11 points in the fourth quarter, I believe we stopped them on 12-of-13 in a six minute span with stops," Warriors coach Mark Jackson said. "They shoot 27 percent in that fourth quarter. It is just a thing of beauty."

Nikola Pekovic scored a team-high 17 points and Kevin Love had 15 points and 15 rebounds for the T'Wolves, losers in five straight.

"Not enough, again. We just did not do enough in the fourth quarter," Minnesota coach Rick Adelman said. "You have to finish games. They finished it, we didn't."

Since returning from a broken hand three games ago, Love has averaged 24.3 points and 14 rebounds per game.

The T'Wolves led 74-70 at the start of the fourth but a 14-5 run gave the Warriors an 86-79 lead.

Love's layup with 5:28 left pulled Minnesota within five, but it would as close as the Timberwolves would get the rest of the way as they were outscored 10-4 down the stretch. The T'Wolves shot a dreadful 26.7 percent from the floor in the frame.

Minnesota held a slim 18-16 lead after the first quarter, despite shooting 29.2 percent (7-for-24) from the field, including 0-for-6 from 3-point range.

The T'Wolves pushed their lead to four in the second stanza at 51-47 paced by J.J. Barea and Alexey Shved, who scored seven points apiece in the frame.

Minnesota led by as many as eight in the third, but the Warriors were able to take a 68-66 lead with 1:30 left thanks to a pair of Lee free throws. The T'Wolves scored the final six points of the quarter.

Game Notes

Golden State tied a season-low with 13 turnovers ... Barnes grabbed a career- high 11 defensive rebounds ... Minnesota shot just 18.5 percent (5-for-27) from beyond the arc ... Golden State has won 10 of the last 12 meetings.
