Recap: LA Clippers vs. New Orleans

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Blake Griffin paced the Clippers with 18 points as Los Angeles tied a franchise record with a 93-77 victory over the New Orleans Hornets at the Staples Center.

It was the Clippers' 11th straight win, tying the Buffalo Braves' franchise mark set during the 1974-75 season.

Also on Wednesday, Chris Paul finished with 10 points and 12 assists to give him 5,003 career assists.

"It's easy on my part, I just pass the ball. My teammates make the shots," Paul said about reaching 5,000 assists. "It's pretty cool to do it in front of our crowd."

Jamal Crawford added 17 points, DeAndre Jordan poured in 12 and Matt Barnes contributed 11 in the victory.

Robin Lopez dropped in a game-high 22 points to go along with nine rebounds and Anthony Davis scored 16 points for the Hornets, who have dropped nine straight.

New Orleans opened the scoring with a Lopez dunk, but that would be the last lead they would hold in the contest as the Clippers responded with an 11-4 run to go on top for good.

A personal 6-3 push by Lopez brought the Hornets back within 14-12, but Los Angeles scored eight of the first quarter's final 12 points to carry a 22-16 lead into the second.

New Orleans managed to stay within two possessions over the opening three-plus minutes of the second quarter until a Barnes 3-pointer sparked a 20-5 run by the Clippers which gave them a 46-30 lead with 1:32 remaining in the half.

The Hornets cut their deficit to 48-38 entering the break, and then followed Griffin's opening layup of the third quarter with a 9-2 swing to get back within 52-47.

But after Lopez's tip-in capped the spurt, New Orleans would not make another shot from the floor for the next six-plus minutes as Los Angeles reeled off a 13-3 run to take a 65-50 advantage with four minutes left in the third.

A Lopez jumper put an end to the drought, but the Hornets would manage just four more points for the rest of the third quarter while the Clippers netted 10 points to run out to a 75-56 lead heading into the fourth.

New Orleans never threatened in the fourth and the Clippers emptied their bench for the majority of the final 12 minutes.

"We came out in the third quarter with more juice, we just weren't able to sustain it," Hornets coach Monty Williams said. "We just didn't make shots tonight."
