Recap: Phoenix vs. Toronto

Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - DeMar DeRozan and Amir Johnson scored 15 and 14 points, respectively, as the Toronto Raptors defeated the Phoenix Suns, 98-71, on Wednesday.

Sebastian Telfair had 13 points, seven assists and four steals while Jonas Valanciunas, Alan Anderson and Terrence Ross scored 10 points apiece for the Raptors, who snapped a five-game losing streak.

Marcus Morris scored 12 points off the bench for the Suns, who had won three straight coming into the game. No other Phoenix player finished in double figures.

Late in the first quarter, down 25-22, the Suns' Marcin Gortat came down with a rebound and had his left foot stepped on by Johnson. Gortat did not return to the game.

"He (Gortat) is their difference maker but again, we've been there. It's the NBA and I feel for him but we have been there before and nobody felt sorry for us and so I hope he's ok," Raptors coach Dwane Casey said.

Entering the second quarter, the Raptors had a 28-24 advantage.

Up 39-34 with less than eight minutes in the frame, the Raptors went on a 9-0 run to lead 48-34 with 3:55 remaining and held a 54-40 lead at halftime. Telfair scored 10 points in the half.

The third quarter was a low-scoring mess. Both teams combined for 12 turnovers and Phoenix shot just 26.3 percent from the field to go into the final frame trailing 72-55.

Phoenix's Michael Beasley opened up the fourth quarter with a layup, but the Toronto then pulled away even further, as it went on a 16-2 run and led 88-59 with 6:24 left in regulation.

The Raptors proved to be too much for the Suns over the final 12 minutes after shot 8-of-13 from the field, including 4-of-8 from three-point range. Toronto made all six of their free throws in the quarter. Morris scored 10 points in the period, including six in the final two minutes, but the rest of the roster contributed little offensively.

"That was pretty bad," Suns coach Lindsey Hunter said. "I do not see one bright spot to take from that game other than it is over."
