Recap: New York vs. Washington

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Carmelo Anthony and J.R. Smith paced the Knicks with 20 points apiece, as New York easily defeated the Washington Wizards, 108-87, to stay undefeated at home.

In the Knicks capturing their sixth victory in as many tries at Madison Square Garden, Tyson Chandler posted a double-double, finishing with 12 points and 10 rebounds in the Knicks' 10th straight triumph over the Wizards.

Raymond Felton scored 11 and Pablo Prigioni continued to elevate his play in Jason Kidd's absence, who sat with back spasms for the third straight game. Prigioni tallied eight points and five assists in the victory.

"Pablo's a giving type of player," said Knicks coach Mike Woodson, whose team finished with 24 assists for the night. "He's a pass first guy, all the players love that.

After claiming their first win of the season just two days prior, Washington looked completely overmatched on Friday and were unable to keep up with the Knicks' scoring pace.

Jordan Crawford led the Wizards with 17 points off the bench. Bradley Beal followed with 14 and Kevin Seraphin posted 13 points and 10 rebounds in the setback.

"They're a good basketball team," said Crawford. "We have to do a good job of playing our pace and controlling the game instead of playing at their pace."

After a back-and-forth start to the game, Steve Novak and Smith helped the Knicks close out the period on a 9-2 run, each burying 3-pointers to give New York a 26-17 lead.

After falling behind by as many as 13 in the second, A.J. Price helped bring the Wizards to within seven by knocking down a jumper with 44 seconds remaining.

However, Anthony sank a pair of free throws before draining a long buzzer- beating jumpshot to swell the Knicks' advantage back up to double-digits at 57-46 going into halftime.

New York maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way. They outscored the Wizards by 10 in the third period by holding them to just 37.5 percent shooting from the field.

Chandler's three-point play put the Knicks on top 76-61 before Novak and Rasheed Wallace each drained triples to bring the margin to 21 points.

Smith knocked down 5-of-6 from the field in the fourth and Novak's third 3- pointer of the contest gave the Knicks their largest lead of the quarter, putting them ahead 93-71.

Game Notes
