Recap: LA Lakers vs. Philadelphia

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Jrue Holiday scored 26 points, dished out 10 assists and slammed home a rare road win for the Philadelphia 76ers against the Los Angeles Lakers in a 103-99 decision at Staples Center.

Evan Turner finished with 22 points, 13 rebounds and five assists for the Sixers, who never trailed in the second half and improved to 2-3 on their eight-game road trip.

Spencer Hawes totaled 13 points off the bench, including a critical jumper down the stretch after a Kobe Bryant 3-pointer cut the Lakers' deficit to two.

Bryant paced Los Angeles with 36 points on 14-of-29 shooting, but the starting frontcourt of Pau Gasol and Dwight Howard combined to shoot 3-of-19 from the field for 18 points.

Steve Nash added 12 points and 10 helpers for Los Angeles, which had won six of seven coming in and was perhaps looking ahead to a matchup against the Clippers on Friday.

"We just didn't play well," Lakers head coach Mike D'Antoni said. "I don't understand how we came out in the second half and didn't control the game."

The Sixers narrowly won the third quarter and brought an 81-73 lead into the fourth, where they went ahead by double-digits, 85-75, on a Lavoy Allen jumper from the right elbow less than three minutes in.

The Lakers chipped away and pulled within 99-97 when Bryant drained one from long range with 1:28 to play. But Hawes, off a terrific pass from Jason Richardson, hit a 15-footer from the baseline to make it a two-possession game again.

A Bryant turnover followed by deep misses from Nash and Metta World Peace inside the final minute preceded Holiday parting the lane and throwing down a clinching dunk for Philadelphia's third road win over the Lakers in the last 13 trips.

"We executed and communicated well tonight," Turner said. "It's always tough to win on the road. ...We're going to try and use this as momentum."

The Sixers never trailed in the first quarter, though the 11-point lead they built less than five minutes in dipped to three, 28-25, heading to the second.

There were five lead changes and six ties in the second, and two buckets by Turner in the final minute gave Philadelphia a 54-50 edge at halftime.
