Recap: Philadelphia vs. Sacramento

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Thaddeus Young posted 23 points and 15 rebounds as the Philadelphia 76ers withstood a late push by the Sacramento Kings to take an 89-80 decision at Wells Fargo Center.

Jrue Holiday added 21 points, seven assists and six rebounds, while Nick Young poured in 20 points for Philadelphia, which won consecutive games for the first time since a three-game stretch from Nov. 25-30.

"We're just trying to keep building on wins and trying to keep building on what we have here," Young said. "It's all about winning from this point forward."

Tyreke Evans scored a game-high 29 points for the Kings, who have dropped two straight and six of seven overall.

Isaiah Thomas had 24 points and DeMarcus Cousins contributed a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds in defeat.

Sacramento trailed, 54-39, at the half and could not cut its deficit to single digits in the third quarter until a 17-4 run closed the Kings' deficit to 66-63 with a little over three minutes left in the frame.

But Nick Young stopped the run with a 3-pointer to start a 6-0 push that stretched the Sixers' advantage back up to nine points and they carried a 72-68 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Kings then scored the first five points of the fourth quarter to take their first lead of the game, 73-72.

Philadelphia, however, responded with a 17-2 run to regain a double-digit lead, 89-75, with less than four minutes remaining in the contest as Sacramento failed to make a shot from the floor for just over nine minutes.

Thomas ended the drought with a driving layup with about two minutes left in the game, but it was too late for the Kings to make a run and the Sixers cruised to the win.

"I thought our guys did a great job of coming back out to make an incredible run," Kings coach Keith Smart said.

Philadelphia led by as much as eight and never trailed in the first quarter en route to a 27-23 edge heading into the second, where the Sixers netted the frame's first eight points to open up a 35-23 advantage.

Young later capped an 11-2 run with a three-point play to stretch the Sixers' lead up to a game-high 19 points, 48-29, before taking a 54-39 cushion into the break.
