Recap: New York vs. Detroit

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Carmelo Anthony registered 27 points and seven rebounds and Amare Stoudemire scored 20 points off the bench as the New York Knicks handled the Detroit Pistons, 99-85, on Monday.

Anthony shot 10-of-17 from the field, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc. Tyson Chandler recorded eight points and 20 rebounds for the Knicks, who have won five straight and eight of the past 10 games.

"He's done it three straight games so I'm expecting it for four games. Get 20 rebounds," Knicks head coach Mike Woodson said of Chandler.

Jose Calderon, acquired from a three-team trade with the Toronto Raptors, had a team-high 15 points on 7-for-12 shooting in his first game with the Pistons, who have lost six of their last eight games. Greg Monroe recorded 13 points and 10 rebounds.

"We put ourselves in such a hole that we start playing frustration basketball. Mentally we don't stay as focused or engaged as we need to be," Detroit head coach Lawrence Frank said.

New York led the entire contest and held a 57-36 advantage at halftime. Anthony scored 19 points in the first half alone.

Detroit was unable to shoot effectively from 3-point range - shooting 23.1 percent from the field - nor from the free throw line, making just 6-of-12 opportunities.

Game Notes

Tyson Chandler has three straight 20-rebound games, the first Knicks player to do so since Willis Reed in December 1969 ... Monroe and Calderon were the only starters that scored more than five points for Detroit.
