Recap: Utah vs. Sacramento

Salt Lake City, UT (Sports Network) - Randy Foye had 20 points and six assists, while Al Jefferson registered a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds, as the Utah Jazz took down the Sacramento Kings, 98-91 in overtime, on Monday.

Foye had six points and nailed 4-of-4 free throws in extra time alone for the Jazz, who have won three of their last four.

Paul Millsap and Alec Burks each donated 14 points and Derrick Favors added 13 points and nine boards off the bench to help the Jazz improve to 3-0 this season in games decided beyond regulation.

Jason Thompson paced Sacramento with 23 points and 10 rebounds and Tyreke Evans had 20 points for the Kings, who finished a six-game road swing with a 1-5 record. Isaiah Thomas and Marcus Thornton scored 17 and nine points, respectively, in the loss.

"I thought Alec came off and made a couple big shots for us," Jazz head coach Tyrone Corbin said. "Burks did a great job for us."

The Kings started overtime in sloppy fashion and lacked consistency. Evans accounted for their first three points, but the team didn't find the scoreboard again until the 18 second mark and by that time it was too late. Burks' jumper with 2:39 left ignited an 8-4 Utah surge to end the contest and put things out of reach for struggling Sacramento.

Sacramento led 62-55 with just under three minutes remaining in the third, but Utah scrapped back, with Burks and DeMarre Carroll providing all the offense on a 7-2 run to bring the Jazz within 66-62 entering the fourth quarter.

As the home team's deficit stayed within six points or less for the first seven-plus minutes of the fourth, Thompson connected on 1-of-2 free throws with 4:26 to play to give Sacramento a seven-point edge. All of a sudden, Utah turned up the offense with a 10-0 flurry capped off by Jefferson's free throws with just under two minutes remaining, giving the Jazz an 84-82 lead.

Evans, however, tied things up on the next possession, sinking two from the charity stripe, but the Jazz forced a defensive turnover and got the ball back with 16 seconds left. Foye drove to the hoop and surprisingly dished the ball to Jefferson, who poorly missed the potential game-winner, and the contest went into overtime.

Both teams went toe-and-toe through the first half, as the biggest lead for either squad was 10 points in favor of Utah, late in the second quarter.

After Foye's jumper with 1:35 left before the break made it 44-34 for the home team, the Kings fought back with a 9-0 surge -- highlighted with dunks by Thompson and DeMarcus Cousins -- cutting the deficit to 44-43 at halftime.

Cousins, however got ejected just after the first half ended with his second technical foul, after he pleaded with the officials to question his first technical foul which occurred shortly before the quarter closed. He finished with 10 points and six rebounds on 5-of-8 shooting from the field.

"(The referees) tell us if you have a problem with them, come talk to them," Cousins said of the ejection. "I waited until halftime. He said the same thing he was saying, 'Dont talk to me.' So my response was, 'You don't have to act like an effing female.' I shouldn't have said that. That's about it."
