Recap: Golden State vs. Portland

Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - David Lee had 24 points and 10 rebounds, Stephen Curry added 22 points and 12 assists and the Golden State Warriors withstood a furious comeback by Damian Lillard and the Portland Trail Blazers in a 103-97 victory at Oracle Arena.

Klay Thompson chipped in 16 points and Carl Landry netted 15, including a big layup after the Blazers pulled within four in the final minute of regulation.

Golden State avoided its first three-game losing streak of the season and reached 23 wins to match its entire win total in last season's lockout- shortened 66-game campaign.

"I'm confident as long as we keep winning," Lee remarked. "I'm happy to finally be on a winning team and that's the most important thing right now."

Lillard nearly single-handedly carried Portland back from a 20-point deficit by hitting 10 straight shots in the second half en route to a 37-point effort.

But it wasn't enough for the Blazers, who shot 15-of-43 from behind the arc and saw their four-game winning streak come to an end.

"I had a game like this in college, but that ended up with a win," Lillard said of his performance. "That's why this is bittersweet."

Lillard scored 12 points in the third quarter and opened his 17-point fourth frame by draining two 3-pointers and a jumper in a three-possession span to pull the Blazers within single digits, 82-74.

Golden State continued to keep the visitors at bay, but a late 7-0 run, capped by a Nicolas Batum tip-in, cut the margin to 98-94 with 44.5 seconds to play.

After Curry found Landry on the right block for a lay-in, Lillard answered with a 3-pointer at the other end to make it a one-possession game.

With 16.4 ticks left, Curry sank two free throws prior to Lillard missing from long range to end the comeback bid.

The Blazers, who were coming off a 92-90 victory over the Miami Heat on Thursday, shot 23 percent from the floor in the first half, with three of their top four scorers -- Batum, LaMarcus Aldridge and Wesley Matthews -- combining to shoot 3-for-22.

The cold shooting allowed the Warriors to seize control, as they led 28-19 at the end of the opening quarter and 50-35 at the half.

The difference reached as high as 20 in the third quarter, which ended with Golden State holding a healthy 78-63 advantage.
