Recap: Cleveland vs. Charlotte

Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - Kyrie Irving netted a game-high 22 points as the Cleveland Cavaliers rolled over the Charlotte Bobcats, 122-95, at Quicken Loans Arena.

Dion Waiters added 19 points, Wayne Ellington scored 16 and Tristan Thompson contributed 17 with nine rebounds for the Cavaliers, who have won two straight.

"We're making steps in the right direction," said Irving. "We have the different pieces that we've added and we're getting better every single game."

Byron Mullens had 15 points off the bench to pace Charlotte, which has dropped its last five games.

The teams traded baskets over the opening four minutes of action until Cleveland reeled off a 12-4 push to jump ahead, 23-14, with just under four minutes left in the first quarter.

Charlotte would get no closer than seven points for the remainder of the frame and trailed, 32-21, heading into the second quarter following Irving's driving layup in the closing seconds.

After back-to-back 3-pointers by Jeff Taylor and Mullens cut the Bobcats' deficit to 36-29 early in the second, the Cavaliers answered with a 14-0 run to stretch their lead up to 50-29.

Thompson led Cleveland with 13 second-quarter points as the Cavaliers pushed their lead as high as 28 points while outscoring Charlotte, 33-20, in the frame en route to a 65-41 advantage at the break.

Cleveland then cruised through the second half, holding at least a 22-point lead throughout the remainder of the game.

"The physical effort was unacceptable and we don't like that," Bobcats coach Mike Dunlap said. "We expected tonight to play full on and we didn't."
