Recap: Sacramento vs. Miami

Sacramento, CA (Sports Network) - Mario Chalmers tied a franchise record by connecting on ten 3-pointers en route to a career-high 34 points as the Miami Heat hammered the Sacramento Kings, 128-99, on Saturday.

Chalmers shot 10-for-13 from beyond the arc to tie Brian Shaw's mark set on April 8, 1993.

LeBron James added 20 points, seven assists and five rebounds for Miami, which shot 17-for-37 from three-point range as they snapped a two-game slide.

"Sometimes when a team gets into a zone there's nothing you can do about it," Kings coach Keith Smart said.

Isaiah Thomas finished with a career-best 34 points and five assists for the Kings, who have lost four straight.

DeMarcus Cousins contributed 11 points, eight boards and four assists in defeat.

Miami controlled the game from the start, opening the first quarter with a 14-2 run capped by consecutive 3-pointers by Chalmers.

The Kings answered with a 10-6 push to cut their deficit to single digits, but the Heat scored eight of the final 13 points to carry a 28-17 advantage into the second quarter.

Sacramento started the second with a 7-4 trek to get back within 32-24 before an 8-2 spurt by Miami put the Heat on top, 40-26.

The Kings never got closer than 12 points for the rest of the game and took a 66-44 deficit into the break.

Miami led by at least 18 points and by as many as 38 during the third quarter to take a more than comfortable 103-72 cushion into the fourth, where Chalmers remained the lone Miami starter in the game and went 2-for-2 from three-point range in the frame to tie the franchise mark.

"I knew what the record was and I just wanted to go in there and try and beat the record," said Chalmers.

Extra Points: Snyder and the Beltway radio wars

If contradiction was an Olympic sport, Chip Kelly would certainly be medal-worthy judging by his performance at the NFL's owners meeting but the Eagles coach might have to settle for silver because Daniel Snyder's critics will take the gold every time.

2015 PREVIEW NL EAST: It's the Nationals and everybody else

There isn't much after that. The Miami Marlins are loaded up for a playoff push -- likely through a wild card spot -- and the New York Mets are up-and- coming but still raw. The Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies, former powerhouses of the division, are going through rebuilds and won't contend anytime soon.
