Recap: Philadelphia vs. Washington

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Jrue Holiday scored a game-high 21 points and Nick Young added 18, as the Philadelphia 76ers slipped past the Washington Wizards, 92-84, at Wells Fargo Center.

Thaddeus Young and Lavoy Allen each netted 14 points for the Sixers, who got 12 points and 11 rebounds from Spencer Hawes in improving to 2-1 on a season- long eight-game homestand.

"I think we took our time and we were very patient and very confident," Thaddeus Young said. "I think last game we were a little indecisive, but tonight, with a day in between games, it definitely helps."

The Wizards committed 19 turnovers and lost back-to-back games for the first time since John Wall returned to the lineup on Jan. 12. Wall shot just 3- for-12 from the field in finishing with nine points and six assists, while Nene logged a team-high 16 points in the setback.

Emeka Okafor totaled 15 points and 17 rebounds in a losing effort.

"We gave ourselves a fighting chance. We took ourselves out of the game and we put ourselves in the game," said Wizards forward Martell Webster. "It was nothing they did, I felt that we could have had control of that game to win that game."

The Wizards led, 28-25, at the end of the first quarter, but made just 3-of-16 (19 percent) from the field in an 11-point second stanza. The cold stretch allowed the Sixers to jump in front, with Evan Turner's buzzer-beating jumper yielding a 48-39 cushion.

The deficit dipped to two early in the third before Philadelphia regained control with a 17-5 run. Young, who spent his first four-plus seasons with Washington, drained two 3-pointers during the rally, and a hook shot from Allen gave the hosts a 67-53 advantage.

It was a 73-63 game heading into the fourth and remained in double-digits until the Wizards ripped of eight straight points to pull within 87-79 with under four minutes to play.

Holiday stopped the string with a deep jumper, and the Sixers held on from there.
