Recap: Oklahoma City vs. San Antonio

Oklahoma City, OK (Sports Network) - Russell Westbrook scored a game-high 27 points to go with seven rebounds and seven assists, as the Oklahoma City Thunder held off the San Antonio Spurs, 100-88, in a matchup of the top two teams in the Western Conference on Thursday at Chesapeake Energy Arena.

Kevin Durant followed with 25 points, nine boards and six assists, while Derek Fisher nailed five 3-pointers en route to 17 points off the bench for the Thunder, who have won two straight and five of their last six to move within one-half game of the Spurs for the best record in the Western Conference.

"He made plays and he made shots," Oklahoma City coach Scott Brooks said of Fisher. "He knows how to play, he knows where to be. You don't have to make every shot but you have to make plays."

Tim Duncan and Kawhi Leonard each posted a double-double for the Spurs, who have lost three of their last four. Both players poured in 24 points, with Leonard grabbing 14 rebounds and Duncan adding 11 boards in the setback.

Tony Parker, who sat out Wednesday's 98-84 win over Orlando, managed just two points on 1-of-6 shooting from the floor.

"I just have to get healthy," admitted Parker, who played just under 25 1/2 minutes. "I'm not going to talk about all my stuff, I've got a lot of stuff going on but I just have to get healthy. It's not an excuse and OKC, I give them a lot of credit they played great."

Oklahoma City shot 50 percent from the floor in the first half, with Fisher connecting on 4-of-5 from beyond the arc over the opening 24 minutes to help the Thunder build a 52-44 advantage at halftime.

The Thunder opened the third on a 15-4 swing to push the margin to 19 on Westbrook's trey less than 3 1/2 minutes in, but the Spurs responded with eight of the next 10 points to stay within striking distance.

The margin was 13, 77-64, with 2:50 left in the third before the Spurs scored the final seven points of the stanza to pull within six heading into the fourth.

OKC quickly pushed the lead back above double digits with the first eight points of the fourth, but the Thunder went nearly five minutes without a field goal, allowing the Spurs to make it a one-possession game following a 13-2 surge.

San Antonio got as close as three, 89-86, on Nando De Colo's layup with 4:42 left, but the Spurs failed to register a field goal the rest of the way and the Thunder were able to pull away down the stretch.

There are plenty of boom-or-bust types in every draft, but perhaps none in the 2014 version poses a more interesting dilemma for NFL teams than former Florida defensive tackle Dominique Easley.
