Recap: Washington vs. Memphis

Washington, DC (Sports Network) - John Wall recorded 47 points, eight assists and seven rebounds, leading the Washington Wizards to a 107-94 win over the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday.

Wall shot 13-of-22 from the field and a career-high 19-of-24 from the foul line for the Wizards, who have won six of their last eight games. Emeka Okafor had 21 points and nine rebounds and Chris Singleton tallied 10 points.

"I was just in a zone," said Wall. "I made my first couple of shots and I knew I was in a great rhythm. Ten points in the first quarter, I knew I had it going."

Mike Conley scored 23 points and dished out seven assists but also recorded six turnovers for the Grizzlies, who came into the game off a 110-106 win against Boston on Saturday. Quincy Pondexter and Jerryd Bayless scored 14 points apiece off the bench while Zach Randolph had 10 points and seven rebounds in the setback.

"Tonight we had to battle from behind; we had our moments when we tied the game," said Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins. "We just couldn't sustain anything because John had such a good shooting night. He hit shots inside and out, and Emeka Okafor dominated the paint for the most part."

At halftime, the game was tied at 55-55.

The Wizards opened up the second half with an 8-0 spurt and had a 63-55 lead with 8:14 remaining in the third quarter.

However, the Grizzlies kept the game close and tied it on three occasions late in the period.

Wall scored the final points of the frame, sinking two free throws with 31.4 seconds left to give Washington a 76-74 edge entering the fourth quarter.

Washington's franchise player continued to make plays for the Wizards in the fourth, scoring 17 points, including 10-of-14 of his free throw attempts.

The Wizards sealed the victory with a 9-0 run in the final 1:34 of the contest. Wall scored the last six points for Washington, including a 3-pointer with 45.9 seconds to go.

Washington had a 26-24 lead entering the second quarter, but that quickly dissipated after Memphis began the stanza with an 8-0 spurt.

However, thanks to Wall, who had 16 points in the period, the Wizards kept the game close.
