Recap: Brooklyn vs. Philadelphia

Brooklyn, NY (Sports Network) - Reggie Evans and Brook Lopez overpowered the Philadelphia 76ers in leading the Brooklyn Nets to a 104-83 victory Tuesday at the Barclay Center.

Evans tallied 17 points and 24 rebounds for Brooklyn, which also received a monster double-double of 29 points and 11 boards from Lopez. Neither of the Nets' big men played in the fourth quarter.

Evans has now pulled down 20 rebounds or more in back-to-back games and an NBA leading nine times on the season.

Deron Williams, Joe Johnson and MarShon Brooks contributed 11 points apiece in the win.

The Nets now hold a three-game lead over Chicago for fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings after the Bulls' lost to Toronto. The victory was the third in four games for P.J. Carlesimo's squad.

"It's hard to be critical of anything." said Carlesimo after the victory.

Nick Young and Jrue Holiday scored 18 and 15 points, respectively, for Philadelphia. The Sixers concluded their four-game road trip with only one win.

The Nets pounded away on the inside early on as Lopez and Evans were both unstoppable in the first quarter. Evans registered a double-double in the opening 12 minutes with 10 points and the same number of boards while Lopez scored 15 first quarter points. Brooklyn played well on the defensive end as well, holding the Sixers to 28.6 percent efficiency from the floor to take a 31-18 lead into the second stanza.

Dorell Wright scored seven points in the second quarter to give Philadelphia a slight lift, but the Nets used a balanced attack and hit all eight of their attempts at the charity stripe to take a 56-38 lead into the intermission. At halftime, Brooklyn held a 36-16 edge in the rebounding battle and outscored the visitors, 32-16, in points in paint.

Williams and Lopez combined to score 21 points in the third quarter and Evans continued to attack the glass. At the end of three, Evans had 24 rebounds to the Sixers' 22.

"Brook draws a lot of attention when he has the ball and that gives Reggie the green light to do what he does best," said Sixers center Spencer Hawes. "Reggie can rebound and put the ball back up for easy points. They both beat us really bad tonight."

None of the starters for either side played a single minute in the final 12 minutes. Both sides shot below 40 percent from the field in the period. Philadelphia's reserves outscored Brooklyn's bench by two points to slightly narrow the deficit before the final buzzer.
